Taint of the Lich King
General Overview - WotLK

Wrath of the Lich King is Blizzard's latest expansion to the WoW universe. Purchasing it allows you to explore an icy new continent (Northrend), play a Death Knight, level all of your characters to 80, and other fun stuff. With this great new continent comes new frontiers for The Spreading Taint. Please take a few moments to read through this guide for some pointers.

Northrend

You will not be able to reach Northrend until you purchase WotLK, but it is open to all levels. The quests and monsters are designed for 68+. Northrend is a frozen continent in the northern oceans of Azeroth. It can be reached by zeppelins located outside Orgrimmar and Undercity. The Zep at Undercity leads to Howling Fjord. The Zep at Orgimmar leads to Borean Tundra. Wowwiki Link: http://www.wowwiki.com/Northrend
Flightpath info can be found at

Flying Mounts in Northrend

You will not be able to use flying mounts in Northrend until you teach them to fly in the cold weather. To do so, you must reach level 77 and purchase the ability "Cold Weather Flying". Some of the Northrend areas (Storm Peaks and Icecrown Glacier) are designed for flying mounts.

Northrend PVP

Players can battle each other in Wintergrasp, a new outdoor zone completely designed for world PvP. Players will be able to take control of siege vehicles in Wintergrasp and the new Battleground, Strand of the Ancients, and use them to destroy opposing buildings, adding a new layer of complexity to PvP battles. Players will also be able to battle each other in two new Arenas.

Death Knights

"Players who have a character of at least level 55 on the World of Warcraft realm they play will be able to create a new level-55 death knight of any race. If on a PvP realm, the death knight must be the same faction as existing characters. PvE realms have no race restrictions. Upon entering the world, a neophyte death knight will undertake a series of quests designed to introduce players to the class's new abilities. Players will be able to create one death knight per realm." - Blizzards WotLK site.
What's it mean? You will need to purchase the WotLK expansion, and you must have at least ONE level 55 character on the server you create your DK on. You may only have one DK per server. Basically, you get one new, "free" character that will begin at level 55. This does not replace an existing character, is a NEW character. If you wish, because Proudmoore is a PVE realm; you can create an Alliance character with your DK. Please note we keep a list of LGBT guilds at but we do a lot of inter-guild events with La Familia de Stonewall. We are asking that Taint Death Knights be put into the <Tainted Nights> guild. See below for more details.

A very good link outlining the Death Knight class can be found here: http://wotlkwiki.info/index.php/Death_Knight#tab=General_Info . There is also a tab for Class mechanics that explains their damage bonuses/stats a bit better.

DK Party Roles

Death Knights have been designed by Blizzard to be either a Tanking or DPS class. Their stated intention is to make it slightly easier to find a tank for a group, without replacing the current tank classes. DK do not use mana or energy, instead they have their own system of Runes and Runic Energy.
DK Equipment

Death Knights do NOT use shields or ranged weapons. Allowable Weapons: Axes, Polearms, Swords, Two-Handed Axes, Two-Handed Swords, One-handed Maces, Two-Handed Maces. Allowable Armor: Up to Plate.

For more info on Death Knights, check the Blizzard site at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/deathknight/ or the Wowwiki site http://www.wowwiki.com/Death_knight. We also have a forum setup to discuss Death Knights, simply use the Filter feature of the forums here.

Inscription

Inscription is a new profession introduced shortly before WotLK in patch 3.0.2. A player who uses Inscription is called a scribe. Scribes can create utilitarian scrolls, and also Glyphs. Scrolls can be used in different ways; for instance Vellums are used by Enchanters to create tradeable/sellable enchants, and various scrolls of agility, spirit, etc. can be created. Glyphs are class specific items that you drop into a new tab in your Spellbook, and they affect your class abilities. They come in Major and Minor inscriptions, and the Minor inscriptions must be researched by each Scribe, making them more rare and expensive. Inscriptions get their materials by Milling inks and parchment from Herbs.

Tainted Nights

The latest expansion of WoW will also cause the ranks of our membership to swell, as old players return and Death Knights claw their way into the world. We're already pushing the limits of our sub-guilds, so we have started < Tainted Nights >. The Tainted Nights will be a guild for all of the newly formed Death Knights, as well as necessary overflow from Tainted and Taint.

Guild Invites

With the chaos of the expansion, new content, broken addons, and new Death Knight characters, the rules will be somewhat relaxed for guild invites for a short period. Our existing procedure for new invites (Applications through the website, and upon Approval applicants get the information to join the Invite channel) will stay in effect for NEW players, and non-Death Knight alts.
If you have a Death Knight alt, please wait for Officers to make special announcements concerning an invite channel just for Death Knight alts. These invites will be quicker than normal alt invites, so make sure you already have your DK registered on your account for this website. More details will be given in the special announcements.
Tainted Nights Guild Bank

At least for the first period post-expansion, the Tainted Nights guild bank will be mainly for Death Knights. Keep in mind the level of the DK's (55+) and the equipment they can use. Tanking plate, and appropriate weapons will be appreciated, deposit those yourself, or mail to a member of the Tainted Nights for deposit.
These DK will also need to level their professions, and will require bag space; so if you have materials or bags to spare they will also be appreciated. Bags for Tainted Nights (and other 55+ guilds) should be 14 slot or higher, as a guideline. More info on the banks at Guild Bank Rules.
Guild Tabs: All tabs within the guild bank will need to be purchased with guild funds, so if you have a Death Knight in Tainted Nights, PLEASE DONATE GOLD TO THE GUILD BANK.
