Taint Charter of Rights and Responsibilities

Welcome to the Spreading Taint: a social guild within the World of Warcraft online video game on the Proudmoore Server, primarily serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and its friends. Taint welcomes members of many different backgrounds, both within and beyond the LGBT community. The following are a set of guidelines of which all members must be aware and agree to before joining. Thanks for coming by, and may your days always be a little Tainted!

1. Membership in the guild is a privilege, not a right.

The Spreading Taint was created to provide a welcoming community for LGBT players and their friends, however, being LGBT or LGBT-friendly does not entitle you to guild membership. If you cannot or do not want to follow the guidelines within this Charter, then membership here is not for you.

2. You are all 18+. Taint is too.

The member-only forums and guild chat are adults only zones. We talk about anything from music and film, to religion and politics, to sex and sexuality. Taint officers will not censor conversations because they are not tasteful, or because they are explicit or extreme. If you are easily angered or offended, then you may have difficulty in Taint.

3. Mutual respect is the foundation of our community.

The Spreading Taint celebrates diversity of all types both inside and outside the GLBT community and it is founded on a deep respect for that diversity. Taint recognizes that all members have a right to play without harassment and members are expected to treat each other and non-guild members with respect at all times. As a member of the guild, you do not have an unlimited right to free speech. Taint officers will intervene in chat or any other situation if it is deemed to be in the realm of harassment or is otherwise appropriate.

Some examples are:
• Negative comments or jokes based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, age, body-type or any form of bigotry.
• Threats of physical violence to yourself or someone else.
• Continued, unwelcome contact with another player.

It is important that you can observe or participate in discussions as described in point 2 above without resorting to insults, bigotry or harassment.

4. You are always an ambassador of the guild.

The guild has a strong reputation in the gaming community and strives to make a positive impact on both the LGBT and gaming communities. The actions of each Taint member will affect the reputation of the guild as a whole. You need to act with respect toward those around you in all settings.

Some examples are:
• Spamming or insulting other players.
• Openly violating game rules or terms of service.
• Exploits such as "ninja-looting" and "battle-ground afking."
• Abuse of guild resources such as vent, guild banks, and forums.

5. Using Common Sense.

Not every situation imaginable is covered in this document and it is important to use common sense in all circumstances. The officers reserve the right to implement more specific rules from time to time and intervene in any situation, even if it is not listed above, if it’s necessary or appropriate for the good of the guild or its members.

Thanks again for reading about us, and stay Tainted!
